You may have heard the argument that challenges Christians about judging others. Most often, accusations come in stating that Christians are NOT to judge. Is this true? Also Read: Your Search for Truth
The reality is making judgements is a condition of having the freedom of choice. We do it without realizing it most times. God is clear, we are not to judge the world because they are already judged by God. We are however to judge our fellow Christian. Although we make judgements about each other, it is the intent of the judgement made. Are we condemning the person in their actions or are we judging to assess how it is we may help? The book of Matthew chapter 7 Jesus warns us in this way, “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.” Paul the apostle also said to the church in Corinth, “What business is it of mine to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside?” 1 Corinthians chapter 5 verse 12. Christians are people, and people make judgements. As we do, we need to make sure that the measure we use to judge is just and in line with God because it will be measured to us. Paul again wrote to Timothy saying, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.” We make supportive judgements to help each other be thoroughly equipped for every good work. We seek out truth in our efforts, God for our wisdom and Jesus for our peace. What thoughts about judgements do you have? Leave us a comment and share with someone you know who needs these words.
