Memories will flood my mind in my final moments alive. They will pour in without restraint. But will they be memories of great value or of regret? Although regret is inevitable with choice, we can greatly reduce the stress by giving value to our time making the memories. To give value to our time, we must make the time valuable. Time has only the value we give it. It is easy to spend our time on things that mean nothing. The time will fly past without creating a memory. At least one worth remembering. And that is okay. Every instance we experience accumulates to the landmark memories that will rest in either regret or joy. The ones that will flood your mind in your final moments. What matters most is how we have valued the time we spent. We will spend our time regardless of circumstance. It slips away on us when we enjoy our moments and drags on forever when spent on situations that get under our skin. The truth, is that time will always be spent.
It is not all lost. The best part is we have only right now. We choose right now to right those wrongs and accept the choices we have made.
Regardless of the amount of time we have spent, the eleventh hour, God will accept us and save us. We humble ourselves. My philosophy is that I must live and die. If death is always a part of life then I must make sure that the time spent in life is of great value. God has given us a powerful perspective through Paul. “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.” – 2 Corinthians 4:16-18 Our path of least regret is one that is planned for an eternal life. God gives our life value so that we may have an eternal life. Every choice, every acceptance of our circumstance, and every commitment we make needs to be in line with a plan to live forever with God. For the time we spend to have any value must be focused on an eternal dwelling place. A life with God. Our focus will be to do as God asks us, "Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world." James chapter 1 verse 27. Eternal life is the consequence of value. The good we do because we love Jesus, the choices to right our wrongs. The commitment to follow Jesus gives value for our long term investment into eternal life with God. God is the one who gives us value through his Son Jesus, our savior. We choose Jesus, We accept Gods Truth, and we commit to God. How have you valued your time?
