Committing to something is easy. If we act, we commit to a choice, if we ignore and quit we commit to failure. If we see the good we ought to do and don’t do, we sinned. That is a serious commitment to make. However, the real commitment comes from our unique choices. If we spend all our time choosing decisions that keep us from feeling uncomfortable, such as apathy, we commit to a convenient lifestyle. Keep in mind the book of proverbs says, "There is a way that seems right to a man, but its end is the way to death." ESV - Proverbs chapter 14 verse 12. God asked us to follow the one he has sent, who is Jesus his son. We commit each day and renew our commitment to make sure that we stay in his light.
Some will choose to be like the path, and some to be like the rocks, others will be like the soil full of weeds in the parable of the four soils. Some will chose to ignore and make no commitment. Others will listen and grow quickly but superficially and fall away when things get tough. Others will listen and try but they let worries choke their commitment. Do you choose to be good soil and commit to produce a full life for God? Recommended reading: Matthew 13: 1-23 "The Parable of the Sower."
